Who you are

I have always admired you... whether i knew it or not. It's been 2 years since I've known you, we've both changed in that time but some things have not...

Your confidence to be yourself, to be who you truly are no matter what other people may think. Your optimism can change the winds direction, create flowers on barren land and bring smiles to those who could not think of a reason to smile themselves. You light up a room by your presence alone, your laughter could heal if even heard from a distance and your voice could calm any waves in an ocean.

I have never known anyone as caring as you, to run through a storm for a tarp on a roof or bake a delicious cake for fundraising not for you. I remember when you pricked my finger in a lab collecting blood, your hands were so soothing and gentle even the prick seemed so soft. You have a gift for easing any situation whether great or small, your kind words fill people with hope and encouragement and your hugs let people know that no matter what they are loved. You talk to strangers as though they are all your friends and bring people together like no one else could.
If you ever are scared, hurt or confused you never seem to show it, but when you do your amazing brave face is never too far behind.

You pick me up and spin me around and i feel as high as the clouds even when my feet are back on solid ground.

And now that i can, i'm so glad to call you mine! This is only a snippet of the amazing person you are, but i can't wait to see you again, you are taking my heart very far!

...For now your rose is always close by :)

1/3rd of a doctor!!

Well it is so hard to believe that i have just finished my second year of medicine... and what a year it was! it seemed like ages away for us to go on a family holiday to Europe in the mid year break and so second semester felt like a far away dream, but now it is over! we had our all time scary normal systems (NS200) exam worth 100% based on a year and a half's work which surprisingly after all the stress and hard work i enjoyed writing, it seemed like another big step to becoming a doctor and putting lots of things together! i felt like i did ok in my exams, i will keep my fingers crossed just to be safe. I'm so excited to be home again for the summer, just got back this afternoon and have a mighty big job of sorting out my room and combining 2 rooms into one! somewhere in my packing i have my list of goals for 2010, i still have a month to go but it will be interesting to see what out of them i have managed to do :) One thong's for certain though is that i am not going to let this summer go to waste... a job is an option but seeing as though i will be very busy next year with a part time job as the community and environment resident advisor at trinity college next year (i'm so excited for it!!) i feel i can afford to not work, although i do miss talking to customers at the pharmacy.

So whats on the agenda?? ... running! i have one big goal, to qualify for nationals in the 1500m with a time of 4 minutes and 40 seconds! i'm going to qualify properly this year, not just from a bronze medal but to actually gain the qualifying time. I'm going to show WA athletics and Lenny and myself just what i can achieve! i had my last training session with lenny this week up in Perth, and after a 1500m run last night (4.53.49 minutes which wasn't too bad considering my down turn in training during exams) he told me to train hard and keep in contact, in my mind i couldn't help but think 'just you wait Lenny you haven't seen anything yet!' so here is the plan, follow Lenny's training program with modifications where i can incorporate running up hills and stairs into the session which will be at least 3 times a week, swimming once a week for cross training but also to tone up the arms so butterfly we shall meet again! the Bunbury Exercise club will be seeing my regularly again with pump classes especially to build up my upper body and abs (I must learn to use protein shakes after these sessions!) and body balance classes for the all important flexibility and strength. I am looking forward to getting into a routine again, in here i will write how i am going along, it will become my training diary as well as my other summer break happenings. I am keen to get the guitar out again and get back into Italian and piano... i want to do too much i know but i cannot keep still for too long! Then i cannot wait to cook and bake new things and help out oat Bunbury little athletics and coaching. There will also certainly be a few trips further south to Denmark to visit Kyle... but that story deserves its own post :) There is all to much to say! but for now i am so happy to be home and can't wait for Christmas and new years and to see just what this summer can bring! But first... i think it's time for bed.

Day 1 home: 50 minute arvo run (about 10km) - i wasn't very sore from my 1500m run at the track/SS stadium last night so the run felt quite good :)it is a good 'loop' i found, along the inlet, around jetty baths and Marlston Hill, cut through town, back along the inlet then keep going up along Koombana drive then turn back down the parade road and up our street home (so i don't forget!)
