I ventured out to Kings Park for a run on the grass Saturday afternoon, i was craving a run badly and just needed to test my foot! It is sort of at a stand still at the moment and not getting better or worse. What is getting worse is because i am walking on the side of my foot to avoid pain i am aggravating an old foot injury! So i need to try walk properly. The run started off great and i ran for 15min to the DNA tower, i don't know if i was going fast because it felt so good to run or if i am unfit but i felt a little pushed so u thin kit was a combination. I did a few small runs up the grassed hill but made 9x 20-25sec fast runs before it hurt and i had to stretch and walk back home. Slow but steady steps at least. I need to start actual directed training for uni games as there is just over 2 months to go, i just paid my second installment of fees!! :) So my plan is to run once or twice a week ON GRASS and incorporate bike work and weights. It will be good to mix in runs again as i am getting a little bored on the bike but have started going to SPIN classes to make me work better and have more fun at the same time.
Sunday the running group (JME) had a pool session in Melville so i jumped at the chance to join them! We did 300m warm up, drills in water, 5x10sec sprints on the spot, 2x5 squat jumps in the deep end, 2xVO2 sprints (i got to the 25 end without breathing on the first go!! my breakfast almost came up :P) then 3x1min treading water and i finished with 1.2km freestyle with about 700m of fast 25m recover 25m. It felt good to swim :)
There comes a time when you must risk everything or sit forever with your dreams.

Also Mum, dad and pop have finished their tour and arrived in Paris! They had a lovely time meeting everyone and traveled through Germany, Switzerland and a number of places. They hadn't had much internet but skyped me and i had a lovely virtual tour of the apartment they are staying in, the exact same one we stayed in as a family 2 years ago literally only 100m from the Eiffel tower! There is an awesome view of the tower from this window but i quickly snapped a picture of the screen as mum drew closer as it is such a beautiful spot to sit between the curtains and admire the tower through the tree....
It was nice to hear they are still having a great time, they are having a little rest day after the tour and were off to get a baguette for lunch :) I have to also let you know of my sugar free progress, at a residential visit on the weekend i resisted chocolate biscuits and chocolate cake (which was a little dry anyway!) and chocolate brownies at trinity. Admittedly i did have a little sugar crave last night and ate 2 cranberry biscuits from mum reasoning that it was the last 2 and the last one looked sad :P but they are gone now so no more temptations! I think eating the 2 actually made me feel a little queasy after? i think this challenge is working really well though as i no longer want to eat sweet things for the sake of it but want to save those treats for treats which i know i like (such as mums cranberry biscuits ;)), but will keep going for 4 more weeks! I didn't have the week of no fruit as i have a quick apple before i go to the gym to keep me going and don't believe in cutting down out the natural sugars of fruit when they have so many other health benefits and good nutrition as well!
