Day 5 - Podiatrist, my old Oval and... more Research

It seems too regular for me to get a sports related injury right when things are starting to pick up. There is always that lingering thought in my mind that maybe it is telling me this is not the right time to reach for those goals i long for. But one thing i have learnt over the years is that those thoughts need to be pushed aside, there is no time like the present to reach for your goals and everyday we need to ask ourselves

'What am i doing today which will lead me towards my goal?'

this means that no matter what the circumstance, or what hurdle you face, you will simply work with it and not against it. I will not let those thoughts come into my mind.

So what have i done today? A little leap in the right direction. It was confirmed with the podiatrist today that i have plantar fasciitis which is in the chronic stage seeing as though it has gotten worse gradually over the past few months and even more so over the past 3 weeks to the point where it is very painful to walk on and put weight on it getting up in the morning. I learnt the description of a 'sharp knife digging into your heel' was true and is associated with a little nerve running behind the inflamed tendon on the medial side of your heel. SO the plan of attack.... although i am allergic to Elastoplast i need to strap my foot when i am doing exercise particularly running to relieve the pressure of the stretched tendon on my heel, i am trialing a little extra arch support on my orthotics and i will make sure i wear correct and supportive shoes when ever possible and use my spikes to a minimum while it heals! I am determined to get it better.

Mum and i took the dogs to the oval around the corner today and the full force of the stormy winds was see again. It was quite sad for a funny sentimental reason, this oval was where Little Athletics use to be held and i had many years running around this oval and being at this site. After the winds the toilet block was blown away and looks a little bit of a wreck now, it was like part of my little athletics days were being blown away even more...
Just a casual snap of a tree!
Toilet block where did you fly??
The old Athletics oval (now still the Bunbury Football club oval)
The afternoon was some more fun filled research results with Emma but she left early before the winds of the next storm came again. I have to mention mums dinner tonight, she made 'Ossobuco' which i have never had before but it was so yummy and tasty! I must get the recipe off mum to make myself one day :)
Ossobuco
One more thing i love about being home is mums large supply of berries! Perfect to have with natural yoghurt and honey...
Yum :)
