HBF Fun Run and Badgers Netball

It seems like so long ago already with the haste and stress of exams and uni, but the HBF fun run was just a little over a week ago! I was excited for it and was lucky enough to have Emma drop me off in the city just after 6am, hundreds of us caught busses to the WACA oval to the start line and had an hour or so to try warm up in the cool morning with a live bands and commentators, 20,100 of us ready to run for a reason waiting in the sunrise :)

Sunrise at the start
I managed to get up the from near the priority runners and saw a few people i know from athletics, then after a shuffled warm up over the microphone (being careful not to step on each others toes!) we were off at 8am! It was such a nice course, we went along riverside drive, Mitchell freeway, through the Graham Farmer freeway tunnel and around Burswood. I was so happy to see Lex  and Tilly cheering on the side it was such good timing too around the 10km mark getting sore! It was perfect timing for an energising high five :)

I was happy to finish my first 14km race! After hoping to get around 1 hour 10 minutes i ended up with a time of 1 hour, 2min and 50 seconds! I was glad for a drink and a piece of fruit at the end and took in the atmosphere before making my way through the city and busing back to college. I was very proud of a friend who also ran the 14km for a great challenge while also raising money for the Butterfly foundation, she did so well!

I paid the price of a great run over the next few days and had very sore quads and calves! My foot was also feeling it, but i managed to play our last netball game for the semester and we had a great win and overall came 5th out of 12 teams. Great semester Badgers!! Here's a few pics from our last game :)
