Express Holidays Day 1 - Retail therapy and 4th Year Dinner

In medicine we are faced with many challenges, but this next challenge i am super happy to be fulfilling!... How much can you make the most of your one week holiday???

I am looking forward to some relax and recovery and a little time to myself to comprehend what has happened so far this year and how i can make the next half of the year even better. It's vital that everyone no matter what you are doing in life sits down every now and then and just have some 'me' time as you are the foundation to your life, if you don't look after yourself your life and everything around you is affected. So Day 1, i got up and... the sun was up! It is rare i get up after the sun these days but you wake up so much better when you pull the curtains and the sun shining :) i then started the day staying in my PJs to tidy my room (a simple symbolism that i am on holiday and don't have to change into clinical clothes!!) Then took the bus into the city with Emma for some serious retail therapy! and probably the most successful shopping trip i have had in my life really... i started at Valleygirl and got some good grey clinical pants, a colourful cardigan and a navy blue dress for the hospitals :) i also got a little hand bag and some brown boots! Then to Tempt to find another pretty floral dress for the hospital, to Ally to find a dress for the fourth year dinner which is something different to the style i usually get but i'm excited to wear it! To Bra's and things to get the right support for the dress, then Priceline for some foundation (2 for 1!) and finally brought myself some new high heeled going out shoes, i have always worn the same old silver pair i have had since my year 12 ball 5 years ago and now have some sparkling new black ones! And all of this in 2 and a half hours coming to around $250, not too bad considering everything i brought!!! :)

A Successful morning shopping :)
Pretty boots and shoes
It was great i was able to catch up with lexi that afternoon too as she went to uni to work on her research so we had a lovely chat and tea in the psychology common room, somewhere i hadn't been before! She told me a good bread recipe i want to remember which is so simple - 1/2 cup self raising flour, 1/2 cup yoghurt and a pinch of bicarb and cook in a fry pan like a pancake! sounds good to me :D

Friday night was our 4th year dinner celebrating being half way through medicine and (because we celebrated that late) half way through fourth year together :) The dinner was at the Claremont Yacht Club just up the road from Trinity. It was a great set up and felt a little like our medicine ball but with our year only. They played our year group videos which were funny to see. The meal was really nice, we had entree with a chicken salad, fish main and a lemon tart or sticky date pudding for desert! It was lovely to spend time with each other outside of the hospitals even if the hospitals was what most of us ever talk about (it is our life!) but how everyone was going to spend their weeks break was on everyone's minds also. I need to thank Emma for doing my hair and make up, i have learnt a few tips from her so hopefully i can buy myself some good make up one day and be able to do myself up better on nights like these myself, i'd be willing to practice ;) After a few moves on the dance floor and a quick drive to drop a friend off in Freo the dinner ended at midnight and memories of a good night remain...
